‘The John Deere Operations Center is developing some increasingly valuable tools for growers and advisors to use the platform as their cloud-based mapping weapon of choice’, says Jessica Koch, Breezy Hill Precision Ag Services.
The website (and App) began as an online storage hub for files from John Deere machines, either via Wireless Data Transfer, or manual upload via USB.
‘In my line of work, I use Operations Center regularly. With the API connections through the PCT AgCloud, I can request access to the customers Operations Center account (which the customer may then approve). This has opened up some great synergies – the raw data recorded by a machine moves straight to Operations Center through Wireless Data Transfer, it then moves automatically over to PCT AgCloud where I can process it, or if it’s a simple map layer such as application data from spraying or seeding, it will even auto-process!’
The exciting thing for customers is the ability now to move map layers from PCT AgCloud BACK to John Deere Operation Center. There are two ways Jess can see this being a great advantage to the grower.
‘Firstly, I can send prescriptions made in PCT AgCloud straight to Operations Center and directly to your machine (meaning true USB free PA!). The second thing is the ability to move any processed layer in PCT AgCloud across to the Field Analyser section of Operations Center. This means that layers from any coloured machine such as yield, protein or application data, soil layers such as pH, or even NDVI map layers can all be viewed in the Operations Center!’
There are development’s between PCT AgCloud and popular agronomy platform ‘Agworld’ as well. PCT AgCloud has enabled a couple of handy mapping features in Agworld. You may have recently noticed with an Agworld update that you may now view regular SataMap NDVI data of your farm. This has been enabled by PCT who are now the owner/providers of Satamap data. It is also possible to view your PCT yield map layers in Agworld, there’s just a small process to follow, but it can certainly be done.
The images below show the same yield layer recorded by a harvester, viewed in Agworld and John Deere Operations Centre, all enabled by PCT AgCloud.
