John Deere are offering a range of new features across the range of S700 harvesters.
Some functionality moves from being optional to being included with the machine. In model year 2019, AutoTrac™ guidance and documentation was included on machines equipped with a 4600 CommandCenter™ Display. Five years of JDLink ™ is now also included with the purchase of all model year 2020 machines equipped with a 4G LTE Modular Telematics Gateway (MTG). The functionality of JDLink ™ on these machines includes everything that was previously included with JDLink ™ Access and you get Remote Display Access (RDA) and JDLink ™ Connect subscriptions. This allows you to more fully utilise the functionality of your connected machine.
The HarvestSmart™ system is an adaptive, on-the-go control system designed to enable automatic ground speed control during harvest operation. Beginning with model year 2020 combines, HarvestSmart™ has an updated control logic that contains the ability to maintain a consistent engine load through an engine power target. This allows you better combine power utilization and automatically changes the combine ground speed to compensate for variations in crops that are not readily visible to the operator. The HarvestSmart™ system will maintain peak machine performance better than an average operator. This has the advantage of increasing machine performance by maintaining consistent engine load for maximum machine capacity and reducing operator fatigue and stress during long harvest days.
Improved residue management
Residue management Auto Swap will come in base equipment beginning with combines that have the PowerCast™ or Advanced PowerCast ™ tailboards and a StarFire™ receiver. With Auto Swap turned on, it the machine automatically reverses the residue spread direction set by the operator to compensate for wind at the time of harvest as the machine turns on headlands. The operator no longer has to manually change direction with each pass. This can save up to 100 button pushes per day.
In-cab knife bank adjustment is available as an option. This provides an operator with the ability to set the chopper knife bank in four different positions without leaving the cab. The system provides a default based on crop type that can be adjusted by individual needs.
The John Deere moisture sensor comes in-base and provides reliable on-the-go, real-time moisture measurement of a small sample of the grain as it is conveyed through the clean grain elevator.
An improved, more robustly designed final drive offers improved sealing capability, drive wheel to spindle retention and increased oil lubricant capacity for greater reliability. The number of bolts joining the front wheel rims to final drive spindle have increased from 10 to 20 in both single and dual wheel configuration and offers the Same Dry torque value used as the previous 10 bolt design.
Redekop offers improved weed control
The Redekop Seed Control Unit (SCU) for John Deere provides a flexible and cost efficient solution to destroy harvestable weeds seed at harvest reducing the need for chemical weed control. Seamlessly integrated into the S-Series’ residue management, drive and display systems, the SCU’s optimised design is easy and safe to use, with low power requirements and running costs, and excellent residue distribution over the whole cutting width.
The S700 range of harvesters are currently available for ordering with delivery timed for harvest 2020.
